David Carbacio

Aloha, my name is, David Carbacio. I assist people that are in physical pain from injury and overuse of their bodies. I’ve helped hundreds of people heal from painful conditions effecting the back, neck, arms and legs and have taught them what they need to know to prevent a recurrence.

I am a Certified Muscular Therapist and Reiki Practitioner, a graduate of the Muscular Therapy Institute and a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association. I have been involved in therapeutic bodywork in Boston, Massachusetts since 1999 and licensed by the state of Hawaii (mat 8867) since 2005. Specializing in Orthopedic massage, my work with clients addresses structural, functional and stress-related issues that may be experienced as pain, injury, movement limitations or inactivity, soreness and fatigue, anxiety or general malaise. Using highly developed hands-on techniques, my practice draws from a variety of treatment models, including; Neuromuscular Therapy, Deep Tissue, Swedish, Sports and Myofascial massage.

I have an integrative method, blending principles of Muscular Therapy and Energy Healing throughout my work. I promote self-care, education and body awareness as essential parts of the treatment. My work is a cooperative effort with each client. This approach enables me to use my skills to assist my clients in attaining their goals for lasting good health.

TREATMENT

My approach to treatment is to first understand your conditions, learn how you use your body from day to day and understand your objectives for improving your health. Based on your specific needs and desired results, I choose the techniques that are right for you. My core modalities are in the realm of Muscular Therapy. For clients presenting with pain due to injury I employ the specialized techniques of Orthopedic Massage.

Muscular Therapy is a system of treatment and education. It includes a series of techniques and exercises designed to break down muscular tension and prevent it from returning. It encompasses a body of knowledge and techniques that enable the individual to counter their own tension as it occurs. Thus, when the client has mastered the necessary techniques and exercises, further professional treatment is unnecessary. Muscular Therapy can be divided into four parts; Deep Massage, Tension-Release Exercise, Body-Care Techniques, and Postural Realignment.

Orthopedic Massage combines several medical massage techniques to treat pain and soft-tissue injury. It focuses heavily on injury assessment and rehabilitation, emphasizing the importance of selecting the appropriate modality to treat the injury. Orthopedic massage is often used in conjunction with sports massage protocols.
